The first lighthouse in the area was established in 1803 at Lynde Point on the west side of the river entrance, but in 1831, a buoy was placed just offshore to mark the dangerous bar at the river mouth. WebOur Mission Greens Ledge Light is a historic lighthouse off the coast of Rowayton and Darien, Connecticut. The Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit that owns the lighthouse and has a mission to restore and preserve this historic landmark.
